HERBERT T. SCHILLINGBURG, JR. RECEIVES STEPHEN H. LEEPER AWARD FOR TEACHING EXCELLENCE
Herbert T. Schillingburg, Professor and Chair of the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, was awarded the 2000 Leeper Award for Teaching Excellence. As a charter member of the Oklahoma dental school faculty, he has built a department with a demanding didactic and clinical curriculum. Graduating seniors have recognized his department five times with the Outstanding Clinical Department Award, and repeatedly commend the strength of their education in Fixed Prosthodontics in exit interviews and surveys. In 1983, the University of Oklahoma recognized him with its highest award for excellence in teaching by bestowing upon him the David Ross Boyd Distinguished Professorship, and in 1989 the University recognized him with the University of Oklahoma Associates Distinguished Lectureship. Dr. Schillingburg has received the senior class Outstanding Teacher Award seven times.
