Chapter Omicron Kappa Upsilon Lincoln, Nebraska |
Editor's
Report |
For the second time, the OKU Bulletin was
placed on the OKU website instead of being printed and mailed to component
chapters. With the rapid escalation of paper and printing costs as well as
cost of postage, the Supreme Chapter officers made a decision at the annual
meeting in Vancouver to pursue the website as a forum for future creation and
distribution of the Bulletin. The officers made a decision to
redirect monies formerly expended on the Bulletin to other organization
endeavors. In a move toward the goal of increasing awards and
scholarships, the Charles Craig Teaching Award and the OKU Chapter Award were
established. A subcommittee continues to develop new ideas for these
endeavors.
Additionally, the editor undertook
the project of updating the history of OKU. This task has now been
completed and is located on the website for your review. The list of
component chapter secretaries is continually updated and is also on the website.
A copy of the letter of all incoming
freshman was sent to the secretary of each component chapter. The
secretary could then duplicate the letter for distribution to each student.
Expenditures for the year, including web maintenance and updating, development of the Bulletin, and placement of the Bulletin on the OKU website totaled $1,400.00.

$1000.00 Annual web maintenance | |

$ 400.00 Bulletin design and set-up |
This year represented a continuation of diversion from the historically printed Bulletin and freshman letters. Any comments should be addressed to the officers of the Supreme Chapter.
At the end of this Annual Meeting, a newly elected individual will assume the position of Editor. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity that this role has offered me to serve Omicron Kappa Upsilon and look forward to working with the organization in the future. As in previous years, information for the upcoming Bulletin must be submitted by July 15th for inclusion in the next edition. The address for submission will be distributed in the near future.
