Secretary's
Report |
In compliance with Article IV,
Section 10, of the Bylaws of the Supreme Chapter , this report is hereby
tendered by the Secretary.
During 2000, a total of 631 new members were elected (660 in 1999); subdivided
into 3 areas: 498 alumni (486 in 1999), 104 faculty (116 in 1999), and 29
honorary (29 in 1999). Fifty-eight certificates of life membership were
conferred. No certificates of recognition were presented.
Eight chapters failed to have a delegate at the 2000 Annual Business Meeting.
These chapters were notified by letter concerning their absences and were
referred to Article X, Section 7 of the Bylaws regarding loss of recognition if
their delegate is again absent in 2001.
A
solicitation was made of the component chapters for the names of individuals
whom they would recommend for officer ship in the Supreme Chapter. One new
name was received this year for consideration by the Nominating Committee.
The Board of Directors agreed to contract with a different company to print the OKU certificates as the Balfour Company has not been producing and mailing the certificates in a timely manner. The Board authorized reimbursement for chapters that received their certificates late. The total amounted to $1,830.
This report concludes with the Secretary-Treasurer's annual appeal to component
chapter secretaries to provide the information necessary for the operation of
the Central Office in the maintenance of accurate files (most important are the
Necrology and the annual reports.)
