Supreme Chapter         Volume XXXIX         October 2004

       The winner of the 2004 Chapter Award was Xi Chapter at Marquette University.

     Cited for its concerted effort to increase the presence of OKU at Marquette, Xi chapter is a presence at Marquette from the very first day students enter dental school by sponsoring the Freshman Orientation Breakfast for the new incoming freshman class. In addition, Xi Chapter helps sponsor an all school picnic at the beginning of each school year for all students and faculty.  Xi Chapter feels that this is a nice welcome for those anxious students entering and those returning to Marquette.

     Xi Chapter is involved in helping to sponsor Marquette's yearly Student Research Day, which is held each spring.  At this event over fifty table clinics are presented by groups of students from all classes, with prize awards, which help fund trips for the winning students so that they may present their table clinics at the NIDR and ADEA yearly meetings.

       Xi Chapter also sponsors a National Boards Award Luncheon where students with exemplary National Board scores are honored.  In addition, those students who have attained the Dean's List are also honored.  Dental students, family members and their guests are invited to a brunch at a local country club.

      Finally, an entire corridor within the dental school, outside the main lecture halls, has been established by Xi Chapter as the "Hallway to Excellence" at Marquette.  Along this corridor, Xi Chapter defines OKU and what it represents with a series of plaques.  Plaques in the "Hallway to Excellence" also list the names of all past and present members of OKU at Marquette.
