In compliance with Article IV, Section 10, of the Bylaws of the Supreme Chapter, this report is hereby tendered by the Secretary. During 2003 a total of 667 new members were elected (673 in 2002); subdivided into 3 areas: 523 alumni (532 in 2002), 111 faculty (115 in 2002), and 33 honorary (26 in 2002). Thirty-nine (39) certificates of life membership were conferred. Two (2) certificates of recognition were presented. Nine (9) chapters failed to comply with Article X, Section 7 of the Supreme Chapter Bylaws by failing to pay their dues by December 31, 2003. Eleven (11) chapters failed to have a delegate at the 2003 Annual Business Meeting. These chapters were notified by letter concerning their absences and were referred to Article X, Section 7 of the Bylaws regarding loss of recognition if their delegate is again absent in 2004. After a later discussion, the Board of Directors agreed to forgive the absences of all chapters involved due to confusion as to the location of the meeting in San Antonio. A solicitation was made of the component chapters for the names of individuals whom they would recommend for officership in the Supreme Chapter. The Nominating Committee reviewed the applications submitted. This report concludes with the Secretary-Treasurer's annual appeal to component chapter secretaries to provide the information necessary for the operation of the Central Office in the maintenance of accurate files (most important are the Necrology and the annual reports).
