Constitution
& Bylaws Committee Report |
-The Constitution and Bylaws Committee, Drs. Janet Harrison (chair), Kevin Frazier Lloyd George and Michael Siegel, did not meet formally but conducted business via e-mail during this past year. Items of business concerned component chapter bylaws. -Four
Chapters, Xi Chapter (Marquette University School of Dentistry), Chi Chi
Chapter (Loma Linda University School of Dentistry), Mu Mu Chapter
(University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston) and Omega Omega Chapter
(University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey), requested
approval of revisions to their bylaws. Approval for all chapters
was recommended to the Board.
-The second matter was a request from the faculty of the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health for approval of a new component chapter to be named Beta Alpha. The new template for bylaws, approved by the membership at the last business meeting, was used and was in line with our current Supreme Chapter Bylaws. Approval was recommended to the Board. -A resolution of the Board of Directors was presented that the Bylaws of the Supreme Chapter should be amended to include the following statement: At any annual meeting the number of faculty members elected to such membership should not exceed 20% of the number of alumni members elected annually by the component chapter. -It has been a pleasure to serve as the Bylaws Committee chair this past year, and I commend the committee members for their thorough discussions of potential bylaws changes and suggestions for improvements when dealing with items of business we addressed. |
