Editor's
Report |
-I am pleased to report that the 2006-2007 BULLETIN was placed on-line in October 2006. The BULLETIN is published annually to appraise the membership of the activities of OKU, both nationally and locally. -So
that we may stay in touch as to what is happening at the local level, The BULLETIN
contains a “Component Chapter Activities” page.
An e-letter was sent to each component chapter secretary in June 2006
inviting him/her to send information about their chapter’s activities.
Those chapters that responded are included on this page of the BULLETIN.
-An e-letter was sent to each component chapter secretary in January, 2006 advising each chapter of the requirement of providing a delegate to the annual meeting of the Supreme Chapter and providing an annual report. In addition a notice was placed online announcing the date, time and location of the annual business meeting. Each chapter secretary was asked to remind their chapter delegate to download and review a copy of Minutes from our 2005 annual business meeting. -Article X, Section 11 of the bylaws requires each component chapter to provide an annual report 30 days prior to this meeting. To facilitate the requirement of providing an annual chapter report, an electronic form is placed on the website which allows a component chapter secretary to submit an annual chapter report electronically. -All order forms are on the website in an interactive PDF format. A component chapter secretary need only call up the form, fill it out in his/her browser window and print out the completed form, place it in an envelope with a check and mail it to Jan John. This feature saves the Supreme Chapter the expense of mailing out this information. -Notification was received from Kappa Kappa chapter at Temple University advising that they have placed their own website online. Links have been placed on the Supreme Chapter's website directing visitors to Kappa Kappa's website. Three (3) other chapters also have established their own websites-Omega Chapter at NYU, Omega Omega Chapter at UMDNJ and Pi Pi Chapter at Howard. -Our new database was placed on our website in November. A query page was created which allows the visitor to search for an individual member or all the members of a component chapter. Even though the database does not contain any confidential information it has been placed on a password protected page. Please contact your component chapter secretary of the username and password. -Our domain name "oku.org" has been purchased for another five years. -Our internet service is provided by Irides Web Hosting at a fee of $299.00 per year. -Academic attire: Twenty-one chapters ordered 228 stoles. Please do not forget to send pictures of your members in their new academic attire. -As I begin to put together the 2007 issue of the BULLETIN, I will contact each component chapter secretary asking about activities. Please be sure to not only include a list of activities, but also include pictures. Please remember, that the Chapter Award Selection Committee uses this formation along with the information submitted in your “Annual Chapter Report” in determining the recipient of the annual “Chapter Award.” Please be sure let me know what is happening at your chapter and please be sure to include pictures. |
