Omega Omega Chapter Mourns Loss of Dr. William Chasan-
A Life Member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and the American Dental Association, Dr. William Chasan earned a dental degree from the University of Illinois Dental College (Chicago) as a member of the Class of 1931.

Upon graduation Dr. Chasan maintained a private dental practice in the Bronx, NY until enlisting in the US Air Force in 1943.  During his period of service he was assigned to the 849th Engineering Battalion and was stationed in Southeast Asia where the Allies were engaged in the construction of the Stilwell Road, an alternate supply route made necessary after the Japanese captured and closed the Burma Road. 

Shortly after receiving an honorable discharge from the US Air Force, Dr. Chasan began a career in the Veterans Administration, being assigned to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  He retired from the VA in 1973 as Assistant Chief, Outpatient Department.

While serving with the VA, Dr. Chasan was offered a part-time faculty appointment by the New Jersey Dental School with the Department of Oral Diagnosis & Radiology.  Dr. Chasan was elected to faculty membership in Omega Omega Chapter, Omicron Kappa Upsilon in 1973.  He retired from the New Jersey Dental School as an Associate Clinical Professor in 1992. 

Dr Chasan is survived by this wife, Evelyn, and two sons, Joshua and Jonathan. On July 31st, he and his wife had celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.  After earning a PhD in American History, Dr. Joshua Chasan went on to study theology and is now a practicing rabbi in Burlington, VT.  An attorney, Jonathan Chasan, is currently the deputy supervisor of the Legal Aid Society's Prisoner's Rights Project in New York City.

Dr. Chasan is also survived by 4 grandchildren ranging in ages from 14-32.

He passed away on October 16, 2007 at the age of 99.
