In compliance with Article IV, Section 10, of the Bylaws of the Supreme Chapter, this report is hereby tendered by the Secretary. During 2006 a total of 701 new members were elected (698 in 2005); subdivided into 3 areas: 569 alumni (539 in 2005), 98 faculty (131 in 2005), and 34 honorary (28 in 2005). Twenty-eight (28) certificates of life membership were conferred. No certificates of recognition were presented. Seven (7) chapters failed to comply with Article X, Section 7 of the Supreme Chapter Bylaws by failing to pay their dues by December 31, 2006. Thirteen (13) chapters failed to have a delegate at the 2006 Annual Business Meeting. These chapters were notified by letter concerning their absence and were referred to Article X, Section 7 of the Bylaws regarding loss of recognition if their delegate is again absent in 2007. In March 2007 a money market account was opened to accept chapter contributions for the New Educator Grant Fund. The account was established from the old Treasury Bill account and the older Transmatic savings account. A total of $51,875.22 is the beginning balance of the new account. This report concludes with the Secretary-Treasurer's annual appeal to component chapter secretaries to provide the information necessary for the operation of the Central Office in the maintenance of accurate files (most important are the Necrology and the annual reports).
